MTM Robotics (an Airbus company) is looking for a qualified individual to fill an opening for a Quality Assurance Technician. Our tooling is used in the direct manufacture of large-scale aerospace structures. We have a dynamic, talented, and collaborative engineering and production team and want those energized by contributing to eloquent, ingenious yet simple solutions to solve our customer's toughest problems. The candidate will be required to support all quality aspects related to the mechanical/electrical assemblies, power up, and automated testing and control systems for our industrial manufacturing applications. The Quality Assurance Technician will work with electromechanical processes and equipment to verify success of software-programmed tasks, quality and troubleshooting functions in manufacturing environments.

The duties of the Quality Assurance Technician include:

Quality Control:

  • Read, analyze, interpret documents such as procedure manuals, wiring diagrams, blueprints & schematics to aid in the high-quality assembly and/or repair of robotic systems, power supplies and cables.
  • Receiving Inspection- Manage and maintain all incoming product requiring inspection.
    • Execute first article, sample size and fit check inspections for machined and non-machined parts against the drawing to verify parts are within tolerances and acceptable as noted per drawing. (i.e. helicoils are installed, dimensions and tolerances meet spec.)
  • Lead "In-Process" inspections for mechanical and electrical assemblies at various points during build processes. This includes inspection of soldering and crimping per industry standards.
  • Final Inspection/Pre-ship- Complete quality control production reports and sign-off sheets to ensure high quality production processes and output.
  • Manage and maintain the Calibration of tools to assure continued compliance with all NIST requirements.
  • Work with Engineering to ensure products are built to specification and with high quality.
  • Participate in kick-off meetings to become familiarized with mechanical electrical assembly and power up steps to support a quick and efficient build process.
  • Participate in postmortem meetings to identify and share strengths and weaknesses in the build process with the goal of improving future builds.

Support Quality functions related to:

  • Mechanical and electrical builds of complex assemblies with a high degree of accuracy and quality.
  • Set up and operate production equipment as needed to validate acceptance.
  • Conduct experimental, environmental, operational, or stress tests on assemblies as required.
  • Understand system set ups, application programming on specialized platforms with applications in the automation and robotics.
  • Assist in packaging finished products and approving shipment techniques to mitigate risk of damage.
  • Understanding low voltage 24V DC systems and systems operating on 120 VAC or 480 VAC, including testing.
  • Validate (QA) Power Up on production assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Contribute to technical reports and other production related documentation.


  • Consume, contribute to, and submit per existing procedures, technical and quality signoff sheets and reports.
  • Redline the most current versions of mechanical and/or electrical work instructions and schematics when determined documentation is obsolete, incomplete or incorrect.
  • Generate Quality reports, ECR's and OR's as deemed necessary for issues found during the build process and Inspection.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills and personality traits:

  • 2+ years background in Robotics or Industrial Automation
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO9000/AS9100 Standards.
  • Experience with PCB's- Including circuitry, qualification testing and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient with a variety of inspection tools including, but not limited to; calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread gages, multimeters, DMM's and oscilloscopes. Understanding of use of drill presses, sanders, bandsaws and other various hand tools.
  • Highly dependable and able to consistently work a 40-hour work week. M-F 8am-5pm.
  • Able to work independently to achieve required goals with minimal oversight.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas either in writing or orally.
  • Working knowledge of the following platforms, Microsoft Office, Google Doc's, Windows 7/10 desktop and Linux embedded products.
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical circuits
  • Knowledge of the following areas within embedded system development: circuit board testing and troubleshooting, commercial microprocessor platforms and architectures (eg, ARM), and memory management.
  • Knowledge of C/C++ and (optionally) .NET C#. GIT and Putty knowledge a plus. Can understand, develop and debug low-level software routines as well as system-wide software architecture.
  • The ability to understand and assist efforts to troubleshoot poorly performing motor systems and tuning parameters and techniques.
  • Well versed in industrial safety and security procedures.
